Description
Ready for summer: New Steampunk Straw Top Hat. All the work is hand rendered. Start with standard straw body and double block on and open block and a top hat block. I then cut four 5 inch cuts into the blocked crown and trim with leather, die stamp 8 holes and insert leather cord to size the hat. The brim is hand Ready for summer? Try one of my new handmade Straw Steampunk Top Hats. Blocked leather brim. The most exciting part of this hat was the embellishments: vintage clock parts, gears and enamel clock face and a large open spring on the top of the Top Hat. The 1.75 inch hat band consists of five small vintage glass watchmaker vials with actual watch parts inside. This hat will truly turn a few heads. One large pheasant feather shoots from the crown.
- Using a tape measure made of plastic or cloth, measure circumference of head just above top of ears and just above the brow. Make sure the tape lies midway on your occipital bone (the little bone in the middle of the back of your head).
- Place the tape measure at the top center of your head and measure the distance to where you want the brim to place. This will give the crown depth. It is important that you provide these two measurements to get a perfect fit. Remember; please include your hair in both measurements. Don’t pull the tape too tightly; let it sit comfortably, i.e. how you’d like the hat to fit.
