High Art Fridays

High Art Fridays(HAF) started in November of 2013 on my personal facebook page. Each Thursday night I’d peruse a vast amount of art and select several artists to be included in the HAF Gallery Show. I have found some amazing artist around the world. So I thought it was a perfect platform to create this group, HAF. I have shared the 7 previous HAF Gallery Portfolios; Please take a look, for it could be utilized as a compass for the direction of HAF. We will discuss High Art and share it. It is my goal to interview one new artist each Friday, for Friday is our day. But who says we can not have fun Sundays through Thursdays as well. Lorraine Robson, Sculptor from the UK was our first HAF interview participant. It’s so nice to learn about what goes on behind the finished masterpiece.

Our group banner photo will feature the work of the most recent artist interviewed, or the current HAF show. Our standard HAF banner will be displayed in-between time.

One individual’s definition of High Art maybe Low Art to another. What in fact is Art? Wasn’t it Immanuel Kant, the 18th Century Philosopher, who shared his controversial opinion on what is Art?

Kant’s aesthetic theory involves what he calls, “reflective judgment.” Kant felt that much of what we call “beauty” and aesthetically pleasing deals with our response to an artwork, rather than properties of the work itself. Kant felt that viewing a good piece of artwork was an intellectually stimulating activity, far from being passive. On matters of taste, Kant felt that there were four defining characteristics of taste, which he calls the “judgment of taste”

This group is far from traditional standards and lean toward the abstract, drawing from a more subconscious pool of thought and movement. It challenges tradition with sometimes radical and disturbing results. So we will move forward and see where this road leads us; most likely “A road less traveled” I think art has great power to heal, inspire and change the manner in which we think; it opens us!!

Call for Helpers. Looking for members who have a background in editing, Art Criticism, Art History or any related area and have a desire to get involved, please inbox me. It would be great to get proficient English to Spanish, English to French and English to German translators. This is a multilingual and multicultural group. Appreciate any help; I think this could be a great venture.

Its all about art; art has the soul of each who creates it.
